How to assign/login a Remote Camera Kit (RCK)

The SkyCoach Remote Camera Kit (RCK) app can be assigned to a team either by scanning a QR code or, for version 18.1 and above, through the login screen.

Note: RCK v1 units often have WiFi issues due to the metal casing, so using the QR code with them is always recommended.

If the RCK has the wrong Team ID clear the team credentials

  1. Close SkyCoach
  2. On home screen press down and hold on the SkyCoach app until popup
  3. Select "App Info"
  4. Navigate to storage
  5. Clear/Delete storage

QR Code Login Process (Best for RCK V1)

Note: A SkyCoach representative must provide the QR code to the user. To avoid duplicate Camera IDs, which can cause problems, the assisting rep needs access to the team account to retrieve the correct team ID and generate a new Camera ID. As an alternative, we can resend the original QR code for the non-working RCK, but only if we have the full list of Camera IDs for the working RCKs to ensure no duplicates are created.

  1. Connect camera to the RCK HDMI In
  2. Open the SkyCoach app on the RCK and allow all requested permissions
  3. When the app opens it will look for a QR code to get the Camera ID
  4. Point the camera at the QR code
  5. Scan the QR code
    1. This can be finicky and requires moving the QR code around to get it right
  6. When it gets to the form, click submit several times
    1. The form will be empty, that is OK
  7. Close the app
  8. Open the app and verify it has the correct ID
    1. If it does not have the correct Team ID clear the credentials again

Warning: The QR code is specific to a remote camera kit. It can't be used with more than one. If you need to update more than one RCK, you will need a QR code for each.

Tip: There is no visual confirmation when clicking submit. Be sure to press the submit button multiple times.

Login Process Using Login Screen

Note: This requires RCK version 18.1 or higher and good internet to be able to login.

  1. Connect the RCK to the internet via Ethernet or WiFi
  2. For WiFi
    1. Unplug the ethernet cable from the RCK (usually will not work if plugged in)
    2. Open the settings app on the RCK
    3. Select network and internet
    4. Select WiFi and turn on
    5. Select the WiFi network to join and put in password if needed (you can alternatively use a hotspot for this step)

  3. Open the app and login with the same credentials used for iPad logins

Turn off WiFi if Turned on

Warning: Leaving the WiFi on during normal use can cause issues with the SkyCoach replay system. It must be turned off when done with this procedure.

  1. Open the settings app
  2. Select network and internet
  3. Select WiFi and turn off

Tip: It is always best to update the version if you are having issues. After the game, use the Host/RCK Update process below to update the RCK to the latest version.
