Why can't I change my network mode to client or host?

If the expiration date on a device is in the past, SkyCoach will state that the feature is not available when trying to change the network mode to anything other than cloud.

Check the Device Expiration Date

The device expiration date controls available functionality. Expired devices can only operate in cloud mode.

  • Check the expiration date in the bottom right of the SkyCoach login screen
  • Alternatively, navigate to SkyCoach Menu->Settings->Status->Device Expiration Date

Verify both account and device expiration dates are current

Understanding expiration levels

SkyCoach uses two expiration date levels that may differ:

Account expiration date - Gets updated when the team renews

Device expiration date - Updates when the device connects to the internet and authenticates against the SkyCoach cloud servers

Tip: The account may be current while individual devices remain expired

Update device expiration date

When the account is current but the device shows as expired:
  • Close SkyCoach completely by swiping the app closed
  • Connect the device to the internet
  • Verify that the device has internet access by opening a browser and navigating to a web page like msn.com
  • Open SkyCoach and log in
  • The device will authenticate against SkyCoach cloud and download the current expiration date
  • Repeat this process on all affected devices

Tip: SkyCoach personnel may extend accounts prior to renewal for various reasons

Reinstall as Final Option

If device has internet connection but can't pull the the updated account expiration date:

  • Delete the SkyCoach app from the device to remove the old expiration date
  • Reinstall the app
  • While still connected to the internet, log in with current credentials
