Why don't I see any lights on the SkyCoach equipment

SkyCoach has different parts that require power. Identifying what specifically is not getting power will lead to the resolution. This article shares many common reason for no lights and therefore no power

Issue: No power from the outlet that the equipment is plugged in to

Resolution: Try a known working outlet. Connect a phone charger or something else to the outlet to verify it actually has power

Checking all lights when initially setting up SkyCoach can prevent headaches when troubleshooting connection issues. When plugging in the host box, check for lights on the router, the POE injectors, and the host. When plugging in sideline, end zone, coach box, and other antennas, check for lights on all antennas. Lights can be very difficult to see in the bright sun. Knowing where they should be ahead of time allows you to create shade in that area with your hand so that you can see if they are actually on.

Host Box Items to Check

After plugging in the host box, check the router, POE injectors, and host for lights. Below are a couple of generic layouts for host boxes.

Issue: Router power cable unplugged

Resolution: Check the power cable going in to the front left of the router and where it plugs in to the extension cord. Most of the time the issue is where it plugs in to the extension cord.

Issue: Host power cable unplugged

Resolution: Check the USB C cable that plugs in to the side of the host. Plug it in if unplugged. If damaged, use an iPad usb C power adapter and cable to power the host

Issue: POE injector has no lights

Resolution: Make sure the power cable at the back of the POE injector is pushed in all the way and that the 3 prong side has not come unplugged from the cube or extension cord

AC Antenna Lights

Issue: Round bridge AC antenna has no lights

Resolution: Verify the ethernet cable is plugged in to the POE port on the POE injector. For the AC antennas this is the red port on the POE injector

Resolution: Make sure the ethernet cable that is is coming from the POE port on the POE injector is plugged in to the main port on the antenna. When looking at the back of an AC antenna, the main port is the one on the left

Resolution: Verify the POE injector has power

The mesh antenna can be powered from a secondary port of a round AC antenna or a POE injector

Issue: Rectangular mesh antenna has no lights

If powered by a POE injector

Resolution: Verify the ethernet cable is plugged in to the POE port on the POE injector. For the AC antennas this is the red port on the POE injector.

Resolution: Check POE injector power connections in the toolbox. Where the cable plugs in to the injector and where it attaches to the extension cord

Resolution: Verify the toolbox has power

If powered by the secondary port of a round AC antenna

Resolution: Verify the round antenna has power
