Is There a Preseason Checklist?
Yes, there is a comprehensive preseason checklist to ensure your SkyCoach system is functioning properly and ready for the season.
Overview
This checklist involves setting up the complete system in an office or classroom environment and verifying all components work together seamlessly.
Tip: Performing this test in an office, classroom, or gym minimizes the amount of running around a field and up and down bleachers to troubleshoot in the event issues are encountered.
Prerequisites
Before beginning the preseason checklist, ensure you have:
- SkyCoach network equipment
- SkyCoach RCKs (Remote Camera Kits)
- iPads
- Cameras
Latest SkyCoach Versions
Ensure all your SkyCoach components are running the latest software versions for optimal performance:
- SkyCoach iPad App: Version 18
- SkyCoach RCKs: Version 18
- SkyCoach Host: Version 18
Tip: The iPad App can be updated at any time. The RCKs and Host require the SkyCoach network to complete and verify the update process so they can be updated during this test. The steps for updating were provided in other links because the update process differs between kit models.
Tip: Always verify you are using the latest versions before season starts to avoid compatibility issues and ensure access to the newest features and bug fixes.
Step-by-Step Preseason Test Procedure
Step 1: Network Setup
- Set up the complete SkyCoach network in your office or classroom setting
- Ensure all network components are properly connected and powered on
- Verify lights on all antennas, the router, and host
- Verify bridge antennas have signal strength lights (four blue lock lights) indicating they are talking with each other
- On an iPad verify you see all the SkyCoach WiFi SSIDs your kit supports. Common SSIDs are SC-CoachBox-XXXXX and SC-Sideline-XXXXX
- Verify you can connect an iPad to every SSID your kit supports
Step 2: iPad Setup and Connection
- Connect all iPads to the SkyCoach network
- Log in to SkyCoach on the iPads while connected to the SkyCoach network
- Reminder that if you have never logged in to SkyCoach on a specific iPad before, you will have to connect the iPad to the internet and log in the first time
- In SkyCoach on the bottom right of the event list verify it shows the SkyCoach Wifi you are connected to and that is says connected to 192.168.88.X (X could be anything from 9 to 254)
- On one iPad create an event and verify the other iPads receive a copy of the event
Step 3: RCK Configuration
- Connect all SkyCoach RCKs (Remote Camera Kit) to the SkyCoach network where they normally connect and power on
- Common setups are one RCK connected to the host box and one to the end zone station
- Connect RCKs to the cameras
- Verify all RCKs get all four green check marks
- On all RCKs click join an event and verify the event created above is there
- Click on the event and verify video feed from the camera is displayed on the RCK screen
Step 4: System Verification
- Run several test clips
- On all iPads verify all camera angles are visible and playable in the event created above
- For each SkyCoach WiFi SSID confirm that and iPad can download recorded clips
- Connect an iPad to the SSID
- Run a test clip and verify the video makes it to the iPad playlist and is playable
