Why do I have red Xs on my remote camera kit?
This guide will cover common issues with the RCK and the most likely reason(s).
Hint: The first two checks are network related. The last check is camera or cable related.
Red X for Network Connected
Network connected means that the RCK is getting a valid IP address from the router. A red X means that it is not communicating with the router. Troubleshooting the issue can vary depending on if the RCK is connected directly to the host box or at the other end of an antenna bridge.
Things to Check
Is it connected to the network via ethernet?
Verify there is an ethernet cable in the RCK ethernet port
Verify that cable connects to something else on the network like the router
Verify what it is plugged in to has power
Verify something else on the network says "connected". For instance do any of the iPads or other RCKs say connected or network connected?
Does router have lights?
If not connected directly to the router, connect it to the router and remove all other ethernet cables from the router to see if that simple test will make it pass
Try other ports on the router
Change ethernet cables
Verify the WiFi is not turned on
Additional Things to Check When Router Test Passes
Make sure the bridge antenna connected to has 4 lock lights
Make sure the Lan port on POE injector in host box is connected to router
Make sure the bridge antenna in press box does not have the secondary port plugged in to anything in the host box
Check all connections and potentially replace from the RCK all the way to router
Red X for Host Connected
Host in the tool box does not have power
Check for red light on top
Check the flat USB C cable
Host in the tool box is not connected to the router via ethernet
Older Computer models
Host computer is not on the network hosting
Host computer has antivirus
Red X for RCK Supported by Host
Old computer host version
The RCK and host do not match
Check the TeamID and CameraID #'s 🖼️ - use the triangle to back out to the checkmark screen
Red X for Camera Connected
The camera is not set to output HDMI 1080p
The HDMI cable is bad
HDMI cable works with TV but signal no good enough for RCK
The HDMI port on the camera does not work
If there is a working RCK and camera, then switch out each piece one at a time to determine the exact issue
